DEAL TRONIC, DEAL TRONIC LLC, TALBERT FOSTER DEHAVEN III | DEAL WITH CAUTION #147

Friends and Colleagues:

We share these pages exclusively for the aftermarket manufacturers and retailers as a DWC (Deal With Caution) to help you all avoid selling to someone who may have nefarious intent, anger issues, or just a lack the common sense to contact you before leaving negative feedback about an issue, especially a reasonably basic issue such as the manufacturer inadvertently omitting the instructions from a box. (This case.) We will report this buyer to all Bad Buyer Apps and Websites shortly. As always, we truly appreciate the DWC Buyers you all share with us as well. All Buyer information was sourced publicly using Google.

Thank you!

Happy Motoring!

  • BUYER NAME(S): Talbert Foster DeHaven III (Uses the name Deal Tronic and Deal Tronic LLC)
  • BUYER USERNAME(S): Dealtronic-llc
  • BUYER SOCIAL MEDIA: Deal Tronic
  • BUYER BACKGROUND (From Public Sources): Talbert Foster DeHaven III (the buyer) was reported as being indicted for lying and perjury. He allegedly impersonated a Federal Marshall. His other crimes are listed in detail herein. This information is publicly available and relevant to the character of this buyer.
  • ISSUE: The item was drop-shipped direct from the manufacturer to the buyer to save time, since we ran out of inventory that day. Manufacturer accidentally omitted the instructions. The buyer somehow thinks we knowingly sold him an item without instructions.

SUMMARY

We sold this buyer a Corvette C8 VDI McLaren Style ZLR Door Kit on eBay. The order came in while our warehouse was closed over Memorial Day Weekend. The buyer was initially upset because we did not ship the kit out on Memorial Day Weekend while we were closed. (Perhaps, just a lack of common sense.) As soon as we reopened on the next business day, we processed the order and realized that we had sold-out of all C8 ZLR kits, so VDI (the manufacturer) agreed to ship direct to our buyer, as they often do when we run out of stock. When the buyer received the item, evidently VDI forgot to include the installation instructions. Stuff happens, but instead of contacting us or the VDI to help resolve the issue and have us email the instructions, the buyer leaves exaggerated and angry negative feedback. Every subsequent attempt we made to work with the buyer resulted in him getting angrier. His messages became angrier and angrier (with the use of all caps as yelling) as we attempted to resolve the issue. He refused to take our calls or leave messages when he called us, which was a red flag and similar to how scam buyers act when they want a discount or refund. Now, this buyer is posting lies and exaggerations about us everywhere he can on Facebook, calling us liars. The irony is that we are seeing a sizeable traffic increase from Facebook since he started his campaign, and the CTB ratio is high, selling Corvette C8 parts, Nissan 370Z parts and Corvette C7 parts. We are happy to see that buyers from Forums and Facebook Groups like C8 Corvette, Corvette Owners Group, C8 Corvette Enthusiasts, C8 Corvette Classifieds, Corvette C8 Z06, C8 Corvette Owners (And Friends), C8 Corvette Trade and Sell, C8 Corvette, Z06 & E-Ray, C8 Corvette Owners, CorvetteForum.com and the Nissan 370z Z34 Groups are doing their own homework and supporting Accesspeed.

We filed a complaint with eBay and provided the details shown on this page, as the buyer is showing the same pattern that other buyers show when they are attempting to circumvent ebay and extort us for a refund. They advised that it can take up to 30 days to research our request and decide. We know, ebay never removes feedback, but we are more concerned about transparency with Talbert Foster DeHaven III (aka Deal Tronic LLC), we feel that it is important for other sellers to be aware and know the facts. Additionally, in the name of full transparency, we have pasted the entire chain of correspondence between the buyer and us at the bottom under Sequence of Events, as this page is referenced for eBay. Additionally, we will post this on any forum, group and website on which we find the buyer attempting to continue his campaign.

EBAY FEEDBACK:

Fact 1:

We have been selling so many VDI C8 kits, we ran out of the ZLR C8 kits and had Vertical Doors drop-ship a handful for us, WITH NO DELAYS IN SHIPPING. Of the ZLR C8 kits drop-shipped by VDI, this one was missing the instructions. (This was a first for us with VDI, by the way.)  Blame us or blame VDI, but we never had possession of the kit, so we had no way of knowing whether or not the instructions were in the box. That is an honest mistake by VDI, but this buyer seems to want to hold us accountable for a manufacturer mistake. OK, even if it is not our fault, we end up owning it. We accept that.

Fact 2:

The eBay record shows that we did everything possible to remedy the situation, but the buyer failed to contact us or VDI before leaving feedback, and he refused to speak with us throughout the process. A simple phone call can go a long way. We resolved the issue as quickly as possible sending instructions, and we even offered to let the buyer return the product for a 100% refund.

Fact 3:

The buyer showed a pattern that we have witnessed in the past. He was unreasonable and erratic, seeming to lack common sense, and he failed to understand how simple it would be to calmly request instructions BEFORE leaving negative feedback. When we offered a 100% refund to return the product, he declined. THIS is a pattern consistent with fraudulent behavior, such as making threats about filing complaints in order to garner a discount or refund. We do not respond to threats, as they have led to the buyer trying to get a refund or discount outside of eBay.

Fact 4:

The buyer lied. He lied in his feedback, as well. You can clearly see from the images below of his posts online bragging about how he loves the door kit.

2 questions:

1. Why hasn't my order shipped yet?

2. You claim that it is 100% bolt on. So does that mean it includes door hinge shims to make small adjustments if needed?

Sent by Seller: Tuesday, May-28-24 09:11

Good morning Talbert - Thank you for your inquiry. Our business hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00AM to 5:00PM PST, and we were closed yesterday. (Memorial Day) Your order is expected to ship tomorrow. We will send you tracking as soon as it ships. VDI includes all hardware and detailed instructions in the box. I just spoke with our VDI rep and he advised that this kit does not require shims for proper installation. You will need to grind or cut one bracket on each side, but it is easy and there are dozens of objective (3rd party shops and owners) Youtube Videos covering C8 door kit installations for more details. I hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thank you!

Please confirm that you understand that the ZLR door kit will eliminate your window valet by responding to this message and writing, "I understand the ZLR door kit will eliminate my window valet". Thank you.

Window valet? I don't use any window valet or care. But you NEVER answered my questions.

1. Why hasn't my order shipped?

2. Does it include shims to make any required adjustments?

Talbert,   I am just following up on your message. We sold all of our C8 ZLR inventory last week, so your kit will be drop-shipped from VDI and it should ship tomorrow. You will receive a message today about the Window Valet that requires your attention. Please respond to that message when it arrives. We will complete your order as soon as we receive that email. If there is any delay with VDI, we will let you know.   Thank you.

Thank you for your questions. Below are the answers:

1. Why hasn't my order shipped yet?  A) We are closed on weekends and holidays. Your order will ship within the window provided by eBay. (Ship on or before Jun 3 at 11:59pm PST | Estimated delivery window: June 1, 2024 - June 6, 2024)

2. You claim that it is 100% bolt on. So does that mean it includes door hinge shims to make small adjustments if needed?   A) No shims required, per the manufacturer: "This Kit is a Direct Bolt-On for most vehicles. Some vehicles may require slight cutting or grinding of tabs behind the fenders, or some inner fenders need to be rolled, but this kit is a bolt-on, replacing the OEM hinges with No Welding, which makes it a reversible installation on most vehicles."  Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thank you.

NEGATIVE FEEDBACK RECEIVED SUNDAY, JUN-09-24 (Talbert Foster DeHaven III (AKA Deal Tronic) Posted negative feedback without contacting us first for support.)

DO NOT BUY ANY PRODUCT FROM THIS COMPANY OR VERTICAL DOORS! They provide you with almost no information on how to install the product and instead expect you to search out random videos on YouTube to try and figure out how to do it. The the HUGE problem is that every installer you find on YouTube seems to have a different idea on how to install the product. HORRIBLE considering how expensive this item is. PLEASE if you value your vehicle do not buy this junk.

Received from Buyer Talbert Foster DeHaven III (AKA Deal Tronic): Sunday, Jun-09-24 17:59

I am infuriated by the absolute lack of instructions on how to install this kit. How can you sell something for almost $3,000 and expect someone to try and find and watch random YouTube videos to install it. Every video that I have found shows a different way to install and even the Verticaldoors website does NOT have a video on the install of my door. All the videos are of the "Lambo" style doors, not what I bought.

After-Hours Auto-Response Sent by Seller: Sunday, Jun-09-24 19:30

Hello,

Thank you for your message. You have reached Accesspeed outside of normal business hours of Monday through Friday 9am-5pm PST. We normally respond to after-hours messages within one business day, excluding holidays. We look forward to responding to this message when we are back in the office.

If you received only part of your order, it is very likely that the rest of your order will be delivered within a day or two. Amazon, eBay and other Marketplaces have no way to ship multiple boxes for one item, so a third-party shipping company is required. Items such as big brake kits, suspension systems, superchargers and header-exhaust combos, tend to ship in multiple boxes.  Thank you.

There is a chance that VDI inserted the wrong instructions. We have sold these kits for many years with no issues like you are claiming. We will have someone from Vertical Doors contact you.

Received from Buyer Talbert Foster DeHaven III (AKA Deal Tronic): Monday, Jun-10-24 09:20

There were no instructions included besides a little 4 page booklet that advised no damaging the shock and a QR code to follow for videos. On the Vertical Door website there is NOT one single video for these type of doors. Only the "Lambo" style hinges and they are different. So you're selling a product without installation instructions. Which is unacceptable especially considering the cost of almost $3,000.

Sent by Seller: Monday, Jun-10-24 09:49

Hi Talbert - What did VDI's tech support personnel say about this? I am curious about their response because the three other C8 McLaren kits we sold over the past 2 weeks had no issues, so I am thinking that you may have been shipped the wrong parts or wrong instructions. That is an honest mistake, which can be easily rectified. If you have not yet called VDI, please reply with the best method to have VDI contact you and we will ask them to reach out. Thank you ~

Received from Buyer Talbert Foster DeHaven III (AKA Deal Tronic): Monday, Jun-10-24 16:44

I think that this sale is slighting to very misleading. Perhaps the other customers didn't complain because they are professional installers. And I have not contacted Vertical Doors because I bought a product off you not them. You shipped me this item without instructions and mere directions to watch YouTube videos that don't even match my product. I challenge you to find one single video on their website for the installation of the ZLR "McLaren" style doors. They DO NOT exist! There is one very short video put out by an installer that has zero to do with Vertical Doors that I found on YouTube, but he's very vague and just briefly (maybe 3 minutes) touches on installing these door. You either do something about this or I'm filing an official complaint with eBay and the Better Business Bureau. You can't sell a product for almost $3,000 designed for a vehicle and provide no instructions on it's installation.

Sent by Seller: Monday, Jun-10-24 16:55

Have you installed it yet?

Sent by Seller: Monday, Jun-10-24 17:33 <CSR_remote_1075>

Good afternoon,  It sounds like you are missing instructions for your ZLR door kit. Our apologies. I will have one of our guys send you an email with the instructions as soon as they get in. Where are you in the installation process? Can you send photos of your progress?  Thank you.

Received from Buyer Talbert Foster DeHaven III (AKA Deal Tronic): Monday, Jun-10-24 21:13 (No photos sent)

I'm stuck halfway in the install because #1 there are no instructions, #2 What is online is about the "Lambo" door hinge kit and not the "ZLR - McLaren" style, #3 Half of what I found online is complete nonsense. It's as if the professional installers were attempting to steer you in the wrong direction so that you would be forced to call and hire them to finish the job. For example: there are at least 20 wires in each door that must be extended. You only include about 10 wire connects. When you need about 80 of them.

Sent by Seller: Monday, Jun-10-24 17:07

Talbert, As a small business owner who resells other brands, you must understand that we are limited by what the manufacturer provides. Looking at your company reviews and responses, we can see that you experience similar issues with brands you sell, and I am sure your customers would appreciate the value of having the manufacturer step-in and help. The fact that VDI prefers to be in the loop when someone reports a problem with their product is a blessing in this case. I will have our owner and the owner of Vertical Doors call you together tomorrow to resolve this issue. Please let us know some times that work best for you. Thank you.

Received from Buyer Talbert Foster DeHaven III (AKA Deal Tronic): Monday, Jun-10-24 21:18

As you have already researched, I am also a professional online reseller. But the difference between me and you is that I would never knowingly sell a very expensive item without any instructions. The bare little booklet that is provided says absolutely nothing except don't damage the lifting strut. For actual instructions, the buyer is advised to research YouTube videos. And the kicker is that Vertical doors doesn't even have a video on the install of the ZLR door. To the best of my knowledge they have sold this door for years. And yet finding information on an install is impossible. The "Lambo" style door is a little easier. But they are VERY different products.

Sent by Seller: Tuesday, Jun-11-24 05:37

Talbert - Accesspeed would NEVER knowingly sell any item without any instructions. It seems that VDI forgot to insert the instructions at the factory before sealing the box. Please call us 661-505-1190 or VDI 951-245-8669 to resolve your issue with the Door Kit. Thank you.

Received from Buyer Talbert Foster DeHaven III (AKA Deal Tronic): Tuesday, Jun-11-24 05:41

I tried to call them and all I got was an answering machine saying that they are CLOSED.

Sent by Seller: Tuesday, Jun-11-24 11:58

Talbert, Thank you for your patience on this. Attached are the instruction booklets for the C8 standard kit, and the C7 ZLR. The ZLR Kit instructions were somehow deleted from VDI's product shipping database and the shipping staff has been sending what you received. The owner of VDI (XXXXX - who left you a few messages in addition to mine on your XXX.XXX.XXXX number) walked us through what other installers are doing, as I will detail below until they can get new instructions done.   The C8 instructions are accurate to pages 17-20, where you bolt-on the new hinge and start the Adjustment process. At that point, you refer to the C7 ZLR instructions on page 17 for adjustment, as the ZLR kit adjusts differently than the standard kit. After that, you refer back to the C8 instructions to finish the installation. There is no need to cut wiring on the C8. You simply need to remove a few of the OEM clips that hold the wiring in place, until you have the slack you need.  If this does not make sense, please call me XXX.XXX.XXXX or XXXXX at XXX.XXX.XXXX and we can walk through it with you and turn this into a success story.   Thank you.

Sent by Seller: Tuesday, Jun-11-24 11:59

Talbert - XXX just emailed you the instruction PDFs, since eBay does not allow us to attach PDFs. Our owner just spent 90 minutes on the phone with the owner of VDI and walked through the instructions and addressed your concerns about the wiring. Both called the number eBay shows for you XXX.XXX.XXXX and left messages. If that number is inaccurate, please let us know the best number for us to reach you. We can also Facetime or Zoom with you to help. Thank you. ~

Received from Buyer Talbert Foster DeHaven III (AKA Deal Tronic): Tuesday, Jun-11-24 21:05

That phone number is a business line that I only use for voicemail. I appreciate a PDF of the instructions. But that doesn't really address the fact that I was sold an item without instructions and it did not include all of the required installation parts. I had to drive to Advance Auto Parts and buy all kinds of supplies. Wire connectors, Wire, grease, lock tight, and a "Shim" kit because even though you claim that the kit doesn't need shims, the driver's side needed 2 shims. No, my car has not been wrecked. It's brand new with 4,000 miles.

Sent by Seller: Wednesday, Jun-12-24 10:52 (Message to eBay asking for assistance after filing request for negative feedback removal)

The pattern of this buyer is erratic. As you can clearly see from the correspondence back and forth, as well as the phone records showing calls from Accesspeed and Vertical Doors to the number eBay has listed, we have made every effort to accommodate the buyer and resolve the issue. We sent additional instructions, which he acknowledged. He seems to have anger issues, which is evident in his “ALL CAPS” messaging and his admitting that he was “infuriated”.  Additionally, the negative feedback he left for other sellers is only for auto parts for his Corvette. We contacted the other sellers (gigidog0808, motormtd and elitewilloutlet) to discuss their experiences, as well. The buyer appears incompetent with installing auto parts, and our listing clearly states that we recommend professional installation. We have also attached screen shots from various Corvette Groups and Forums, some in which he admits his lack of competence and asks for a “really good autobody man/woman experienced in removing and reinstalling body panels and doors on a very expensive car.”  One of his other threats after we were already contacting him to resolve the issue was, “You either do something about this or I'm filing an official complaint with eBay and the Better Business Bureau.”  Why would he make this threat after knowing that we (and the manufacturer) are working on a solution?

We have also discovered that the Buyer is a Convicted Felon who commited perjury and lied about being a law enforcement officer, and committed other crimes, for which he served prison/jail time. (Screen Shots attached - Dockets and Filings available.)  Given that the buyer is publicly known as a criminal, we feel that his statement “You either do something about this or….” is a veiled threat to force us to offer him money back, which is a clear violation of eBay rules.  We have witnessed this type of behavior in the past and based on the buyer’s pattern of behavior, we feel that the buyer is attempting to circumvent eBay trying to extort us for a refund/discount with negative feedback and threats to complain even more. We would like this investigated and if possible, the negative feedback he left for us removed. We understand that this can take up to 30 days, and we are available if you need further documentation. Thank you.

Re: eBay Order # 26-11597-93026

Talbert,  We spoke with eBay. After reviewing your pattern for leaving negative feedback for other Corvette C8 parts for which you had difficulty installing, and the fact that the Vertical Door kit is listed as "Bolt On With Modifications" and "Suggests Professional Installation", the best option is for you to return the item for a full refund. We will send you a prepaid shipping label so you can return the item. Once we receive & verify the item is complete & not damaged, we will issue a 100% refund.  Please advise when you have the kit ready to ship back to us and we will send the label.  Thank you.   Accesspeed

Received from Buyer Talbert Foster DeHaven III (AKA Deal Tronic): Tuesday, Jun-12-24 16:26

Because you decided to LIE in this message, "Message from seller: Buyer circumvented eBay trying to extort us for a refund/discount with negative feedback claiming no instructions were included. We sent additional instructions, which he acknowledged. He did the same thing to other sellers: gigidog0808, motormtd and elitewilloutlet. The buyer appears incompetent with installing auto parts, and our listing clearly states that we recommend professional installation. We would like this investigated and the negative feedback he left for us removed. Thank you.

I not only will not remove my negative feedback, but I plan on posting numerous online articles about how horrible I consider this product and your poor attempts at customer service. I'm even going to investigate if I can report you to eBay for lying. Because at NO POINT DID I EVER REQUEST A REFUND AND/OR DISCOUNT! Be prepared to suffer with numerous online reviews due to this blatant lie.
