Speed Calibration and Speedometer Calibrators
Do I need to recalibrate my speedometer?
As long as your vehicle is maintained at factory specs for tire size, gear ratio and transmission, the speedometer should continue to register vehicle speed within this range. If you modify your tire size, gears and/or transmission, your speedometer may need to be recalibrated.
How do you recalibrate a speedometer for bigger tires?
Changing tire size is one of the most common things car owners do that can affect speedometer accuracy. Most modern vehicles can have the tire diameter changed in the vehicle computer, which will recalibrate the speedometer properly. However, if your vehicle does not have this feature, you will need to purchase a Speedometer Calibrator.
