Data Acquisition Systems and Data Loggers

What is the difference between data logging and data acquisition?

The terms data logging and data acquisition are often used interchangeably, which can confuse people. Data loggers are stand-alone devices that measure a log data. Data acquisition systems must remain tethered to a computer or other device to acquire the data to be logged.

What is a data logger?

A data logger is the product used to view and log all major parameters of engine operation, including engine rpm, engine psi load, throttle position, air/fuel ratio, vehicle speed, coolant temperature, air temperature, injector duty cycle and more.
